Thilo Westermann Exhibition at the Zhujiajiao Art Museum (May 23 – June 7, 2015)
From May 23 to June 7, 2015, the Zhujiajiao Art Museum—an affiliate of the Himalayas Art Museum located in the historic water town of Zhujiajiao—presents new works by Thilo Westermann. The exhibition features a new reverse glass painting that traces connections between the cultivation history of the peony variety "Sarah Bernhardt" and the provenance of a historical porcelain plate discovered by the artist in the German Seltmann collection. Other works in the exhibition engage with the artistic legacy of the Chinese ink master Ma Lin (ca. 1180 – after 1256), reflecting Westermann’s sustained dialogue with the traditions and aesthetics of classical Chinese painting.
