Launch of the Artist's Book "Thilo Westermann Vanitas" at the Neues Museum Nuremberg
On April 21, 2015, the Neues Museum Nuremberg hosted a special event in its Lower Foyer to celebrate the release of the artist’s book Thilo Westermann Vanitas. The publication is a collaborative project between the artist Thilo Westermann, the Institut für Moderne Kunst, and the Oechsner Galerie. It is now available internationally through the Verlag für moderne Kunst (VfmK), Vienna.
The evening at the Neues Museum took place under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Julia Lehner, Head of the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Nuremberg. Guests were welcomed by Dr. Eva Kraus, Director of the Neues Museum, and introduced to Westermann’s œuvre by philosopher and writer Dr. Björn Vetter.
To offer a glimpse into the body of work featured in the book, selected pages have been printed on transparent film and transformed into light installations, repurposing the lighting fixtures in the museum’s stairwell and Lower Foyer as illuminated display cases. The book launch will be complemented by a presentation of selected pieces from the ESCADA MEETS THILO WESTERMANN collection.
